Δεν ξέρω αν φταίει το οτι είμαι ευαίσθητος εκ φύσεως η προβληματικός,δεν ξέρω τι σκεφτόμουνα όταν ξεκίνησα να γράφω τα δικά μου τραγούδια,το μόνο που ξέρω είναι οτι το χαίρομαι και οτι η μοναξιά ειναι μαλακία.Γιατί όταν βγαίνουν τραγούδια σαν το παρακάτω η καρδιά μου ραγίζει στα 2 και αυτό δεν είναι όμορφο πάντα να ξέρεις,είναι επικίνδυνο,παραλίγο να πάρω πάλι τηλέφωνο την παλιά μου αγάπη.Αλλά καμιά φορά πρεπεί απλα να το αφήνεις να περάσει.Οσο κ αν πονάει man.

Είναι πανέμορφο τραγούδι το μπουρδέλο.Με γάμησε...κανονικά. Υ.Γ:Την Κυριακή θα είμαι στο Baba Au Rum και θα παίζω μουσική.Περάστε μια βόλτα να τα πούμε.

Well it was close to the end of 2011 and rumors were spreading that Bill Ryder Jones was ready to release his first album,then a post came up that you could hear the album through guardian.
From the very first notes i knew deep inside me that i was about to hear a masterpiece of modern music.
I was never into classical music or anything similar,but i always loved good soundtracks,with the likes of amelie,goodbye lenin,requiem for a dream,the fountain..e.t.c
It hit me right away and i mean people in the heart,in my most sensitive spot,at the end of it,tears of joy were all over my face,i couldn't believe it that i had just heard something so beautiful and so unique.
You know it's really very difficult to describe the whole album and the whole story of it,you just sit down and hear and you feel it,nothing else less or more.
It's the kind of an album that you could hear in the loneliest of your times,the one that you'll have the headphones in your ears and watch the city from the bus or the subway or when you walk in the park.
If you're heartbroken then maybe this album will seem to you that it's written for the sorrow of your love,except that it didn't,it was written for no specific reason,it is just music that can only bring memories to your head,good or bad.
For me personally it was kind of a medidation,my personal salvation you know what i mean?in the loneliest of my times it made me cry and that's just wonderful(sometimes)because it reminds you that music,true music can sometimes sound so wonderful as IF as an album and as an existence.
So this is for those who dare to love,you know things always end,good or bad,they always end,that's it,that's life and that's the rules and you just have to play with them,either you like it or not,you just have to man,you've got to live with your demons and your drugs and your booze and whatever makes you happy or sad.
You owe it to yourself.
This is for you my dear,i will always love you and remember you.

Adrian Younge is a producer,a musician and currently he believes that Wax Poetics(his record company)it's an entiny of it's own.He Loves psychedelic funk and pop and recently he released an amazing record.Here is an interview i did with him the other day.
1.Adrian Good evening,we would like to tell us some things about yourself,describe it in your own words.

I’m an artist that works hard for what I believe in. I love music and feel as though it is the most powerful type of art. I work hard to create this type of art; I study old music and utilize these compositions to enhance my musical perspectives.

2.How long you are in music business?
Since 2000 with the release of the original Venice Dawn CD, my first project.
3.What do you believe about production,i can understand that you love the retro sound,tell me about that.
I’m a firm believer in doing things right. I love old music and seek to recreate the aesthetics of that sound. Therefore, I record on all analog equipment, pre 1975. (go to youtube and search the following to learn about my recording: “Adrian Younge black dynamite documentary.”)
4.What are the purposes of wax poetics,tell us some things about that.
Wax Poetics is a musical journal/magazine. They are also my record label. I do not run or operate Wax Poetics: they are their own entity.
5.What do you believe about good female voices?are there any hard to find?
Male or female voices are hard to find. A good singer must be unique and have the ability to sing in tune. Most singers don’t have these qualities. My lead vocalist and good friend, Loren Oden, is one of the best singers I know.
6.Who is April that you have titled the Album?
April is not a person; it represents the month of April. Something About April is a title that describes the changing of the seasons. The spring month of April represents the woman’s warm feelings, growth, rebirth, etc. as applied to a relationship; the man represents winter (cold, unforgiving, etc.). Listen to the title track (the last song entitled Something About April) and the words describe the story.
7.The sound in the new album reminded me of early portishead,70's funk and sci fi sounds.you wanted to sound like that? and how did you achieved it,it's not a very easy thing as i know.
I have a strong affinity for early psych/cinematic music from the late 60s/early 70s. Portishead also has this affinity; because we have similar musical inspirations (hip hop/early psych/soul), we share a lot of musical identity. In addition, I am definitely influenced by their sound based on the fact that their music is timeless, and they sought to push the limits of sound. I love Portishead!
8.Tell us some things about the production,how do you record the songs and how do you end up to sound so unique,we see a callaboration with shawn lee in the album,is he a good friend of yours?
Shawn is a good friend, he is very talented. I strongly suggest your readers to check out his music, especially the album he recently released with AM. Also, my music is produced in my studio, “Linear Labs.” My studio is located in Los Angeles and is comprised of all analog outboard equipment. I love old equipment because of the sound; also it looks sexy.
9.What's your opinion of modern music and what do you believe for the future of it?
I don’t listen to a lot of music; however, I’m the one missing out because there is a lot of good stuff out there. I own a record shop, “The Artform Studio” (www.theartformstudio.com), and we focus on rare vinyl. Therefore, I’m always finding old music that fulfills my desire to hear new music. Generally, music was better recorded and composed in yesteryears; modernly, people record on computers that seek to emulate an organic sound. I don’t like a lot of computer music; however, there are some engineers out there that really get it right. That being said, I just stick to old stuff because it sounds good and the compositions are more stimulating for my personal interests.
10.Name me some of your influences.
Ennio Morricone, Air, Portishead, Francis Lai, Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes, RZA, Bo Hansson, and many more.
11.Are you recording any ost soon?black dynamite was incredible.
Currently working on the Black Dynamite Cartoon’s music. The cartoon will debut on Cartoon Network July.
12.Where do you want to reach out as an artist,do you wanna be famous or you want to make some amazing psychedelic soul music as you do?
I just want to make music. I really don’t care whether people know me or not; however, I do want as many people as possible to enjoy my art. That is the purpose of Art.

Ok οι Mongrelettes(οι Θυληκές The Coral όπως μου αρέσει εμένα να τις αποκαλώ),μην ξεχνάμε οτι έχουνε και ένα αγόρι στην μπάντα που προφανέστατα έχει δώσει το στίγμα του με τις φαρφιστικές εξάρσεις και τα ψυχεδελικά grooves του.
Λοιπόν οι Μongrelettes είναι μια παρέα,είναι φίλοι,αγαπάνε αυτό που κάνουνε,έχουνε μεράκι και έχουνε τα τραγούδια,σε έναν ιδανικό κόσμο θα μιλάγαν κάποιοι για μία απο τις καλύτερες ρετρό μπάντες της ευρώπης.
Προσωπικά για εμένα έιναι.
Γιατί αυτό που βίωσα την παρασκευή στο Tribe μπορώ μόνο να το περιγράψω σαν έκσταση,μερικοί θα πούνε για τον ήχο,οτί δεν ήταν τόσο καλός,fuck that,ήταν γαμώ.
Το έχω ξαναπεί μια μπάντα χαρακτηρίζεται όταν έχει ψυχή σε αυτό που κάνει,νομίζω πως αυτό το έχουνε και με το παραπάνω.
Με λίγα λόγια απλά να περιγράψω πως χειρίζονται τα 60's στα δάχτυλα,τα τραγούδια τους είναι καθαρόαιμα Garage and Psychedelic Pop anthems,αλήθεια παίζει να ήτανε και το καλύτερο live της χρονιάς που είδα φέτος.
Η Μαρια στα φωνητικά μια απίθανη performer που άλλωτε η κραυγή της μας ισωπέδωνε και άλλωτε η γλυκιά της φωνή μας έκανε να χορεύουμε με την ψυχή μας(στα συν τα γυαλιά που ήτανε σήμα κατατεθέν χρονομηχανής πίσω στο 60,της ταίριαζε κιόλας),
Επίσης τεράστια εύσημα στην κοπέλα στο μπάσο και στην μικροσκοπική και απίθανη ντράμερ,η φαρφίσα μοναδική και αλάνθαστη(όλο το ατού της μπάντας),η κιθάρα ήρεμη δύναμη και συγκεντρωμένη έδινε τις κοφτερές κιθάρες που σε διαπερνούσαν σαν ηλεκτρικό ρεύμα.
Mοναδικές και συγκλονιστικές οι Mongrelettes.
Όπως είπε και ο φίλος μου ο δημήτρης που για πρώτη φορά παρακολούθησε Garage 60's σχήμα.ΑΝΕΠΑΝΑΛΗΠΤΕΣ,το ευχαριστήθηκα man,σε ευχαριστώ.

Κάθε κυριακή χωρίς να το θέλω(μάλλον αφού την ονειρεύομαι συχνά) σκέφτομαι την Χριστίνα,την κοπέλα που αγάπησα όσο καμία άλλη και για να σταματήσω να την πληγώνω αποφάσισα την κάνω να με σιχαθεί.Θυμάμαι τις κυριακές τα πρωινά που ξυπνούσαμε μαζί και εγώ πάντα γυρόφερνα το cd των Mono In Vcf για να γλυκύνει την μέρα,αλλά πάντα ο Best Radio σχεδόν κέρδιζε την μάχη.Όπως και να χει,όσο και να σας πληγώσει κάποιος μην αφήσετε να σας κυριεύσει ο θυμός και τα τινάξει όλα στον αέρα.Αυτό έπαθα και εγώ και έμεινα με την ονειροπόληση.But that's life...beautiful and ugly sometimes..

Περίμενα την κατάλληλη στιγμή για να γράψω το review για τον δίσκο των Still Corners,πιθανόν έναν από τούς καλύτερους δίσκους πού έχω ακούσει εδώ και 3 χρόνια,ο τελευταίος ήταν των Mono In Vcf το 2008.
Όπως και να χει έχουμε να κάνουμε με τελειομανείς,οι Still Corners είναι τελειομανείς,και θέλει πολλά αρχίδια να φτιάχνεις μόνος σου τον ήχο και να μιξάρεις με ακουστικά στα αυτιά και να έχεις 100 takes φωνής στα χέρια σου.
Έχουνε δικό τους στουντιάκι εκεί στο London,και έχουνε πεί πώς αντί να παρτάρουμε τα σαββατόβραδα προτιμάμε να κλεινόμαστε μέσα και να γράφουμε μελαγχολικά ποπ τραγουδάκια,after all έχει άλλες 6 μέρες η βδομάδα.
Γάμα τα και εγώ σιχαίνομαι τα σαββατόβραδα,ήταν πάντα για τον πούτσο.Θέλει μερικά χρόνια να το καταλάβεις.
Να βγαίνετε τις Πέμπτες ειναί γαμώ.
Αρκετά με τα εισαγωγικά,στο ψητό:
1.Cuckoo:Η αναλογία πάθους και ανελέητου καρδιοχτυπιού ξεχειλίζει εδώ με την vibrato/tremolo κιθαρίτσα να σου ξυρίζει τα σωθικά και την Tessa Murray να υποκρίνεται ανορεκτικούς οργασμούς ανα second,θα μπορούσε να ήταν και πιο τζοντέ αλλά θέλαν κυρίλα,live πάντως το τραγούδι γαμεί.
2.Circulars:Intro με πλήκτρα Country Joe and The Fish,τζοντέ μπασάκι και shoegaze κιθαριές,οδή πρός άγνωστη κατεύθυνση αλλα το ταξίδι κρύβει εκπλήξεις,κρυφτούλι με το πληκτράκι,ονειροπόλημα του κερατά,χαοτικό όσο πρέπει και μικρή διάρκεια,μένεις με το ερωτηματικό,παρ'όλα αυτά είναι πανέμορφο,σαν να πηδάς και να χύνεις πριν την ώρα σου.
3.Endless Summer:Οκ σου γαμάει την ψυχή με το που ξεκινάει,η Tessa Murray εδώ σου παίρνει την μικρή σου καρδιά στα χέρια της και την λιώνει σαν μπαλάκι του πινγκ πόνγκ,εντυπωσιακότατη παραγώγη,reverb μέχρι τον θεό,sixties keyboards και ένα καλοκαίρι που δεν έχει τελειωμό,ο ήλιος βγήκε αλλά εδώ έχουμε σκοτάδι,προσωπικά ένα απο τα πιο ωραία lovesongs που έχω ακούσει ποτέ και αυτές οι πουτάνες οι κιθάρες έιναι πανέμορφες εδώ,ένα trip στην λάγνα αθωότητα.
4.Ιnto the Trees:Η αγάπη κρύβεται μέσα στο δάσος,λύκε λύκε έισαι εδω;
Δαιδαλώδη ντράμς με την φωνή να παίζει τον ρόλο του λύκου,ένα κάλεσμα σε όργιο με παρθένες και γυμνές γκόμενες,μπάσο που σου τινάζει τον μικρό σου εγκέφαλο και κιθάρες που σε στέλνουν στον διάολο.Θέλετε και άλλα?
5.Τhe White Season:We are back in 1967.
Η ακριβής έννοια της ψυχεδελικής ποπ βρίσκεται σε αυτό το τραγουδάκι,που η φωνή της Tessa ακούγεται σαν κάλεσμα σε ένα μικρό πάρτυ στον ουρανό,δέν ξέρω τι πήρανε όταν το γράφανε αλλά σε στέλνει σε άλλον κόσμο και αυτό είναι και το νόημα της μουσικής,να σε ταξιδεύει.
Τώρα όλα τα κοριτσάκια μπορούν να φωνάξουν,γλυκό μου σύννεφο σε αγαπώ.
6.I Wrote In Blood:Κλειστοφοβία,φαντάσματα,σκιές στον τοίχο,παράνοια,λύτρωση.
Σίγουρα ένα από τα πιο σκοτεινά τραγούδια πού έχω ακούσει ποτέ μου,κιθάρες που σου παγώνουν το αίμα και μία φωνή βγαλμένη από την κόλαση,ο δρόμος προς την λύτρωση ποτέ δεν ήταν εύκολος,αν αγάπησες και τα έδωσες όλα πάρε τα αρχίδια μου,εδώ δεν έχει επιστροφή και δεν στην χαρίζουνε,σου σκίζουν τα σωθικά και είναι όμορφα.Συγνώμη αγάπη μου αλλά έπρεπε να σου πώ πως δεν σε αγαπάνε για αυτό που είσαι αλλά για αυτά που τόσο εύκολα δίνεις.
7.Τhe Twilight Hour:Οκ μέχρι εδώ ας πούμε έχεις τριπάρει αρκετά με τον δίσκο,είμαστε λίγο πιο πέρα από την μέση του trip,αλλά ρε ατιμούλικα κατεβάσατε μια οκτάβα,πήρατε to main riff του Endless Summer και φτιάξατε αυτό,συγχωρεμένοι γιατί το ταξίδι μέχρι εδώ είναι γαμηστερό,λιλιπούτειες κιαθαριές λοιπόν.νεραιδίστικα φωνητικά,το κλασικό πληκτράκι που δημιουργεί τις πλάτες που του αρμόζουν και οδή προς ένα bittersweet end.
8.Velveteen:Ποσό πολύ με θές;
Πόσο πολύ με αγαπάς,νιώθεις ακόμα την φλόγα,φοβάσαι οτι μια μέρα θα φύγω;
Χαζό χαμόγελο διαγράφεται στο προσωπό της ενώ μου ψυθιρίζει στο αυτί πως ο ερωτάς της τελείωσε για μένα,σαν τις 500 μέρες με την Summer,μόνο που εδώ το σκηνικό έιναι πιο Haunty,πιο σκοτεινό,και τα πλήκτρα σε όλο το κομμάτι είναι σαν θηλιά στο λαιμό.
Άσε με να ονειρευτώ λίγο ακόμα.Λίγο ακόμα...
9.Demons:Αυτό που λέει ο τίτλος,δαίμονες,γιατί η αγάπη έιναι δαίμονας,δαίμονας και ναρκωτικό.
Είναι πολύ δύσκολο να σου φύγουν κάποια πράματα από μέσα σου,είναι πολύ δύσκολο να πείς πως την ξέχασες,ότι κ αν σημαίνει αυτό,απο τα πρώτα ακορντάκια της κιθάρας λυγίζεις και χαζεύεις το ταβάνι,σκέφτεσαι όλα αυτά που δεν έκανες σωστά,κόμποι στο λαιμό και στο στομάχι,η αλήθεια μελοποιημένη και οι δαιμονές σου να χορεύουν γύρω γύρω,όλα αυτά που ήθελες να της πείς και δεν μπόρεσες.Θα λυτρωθούμε ποτέ άραγε;
10.Submarine:Το πλοίο φεύγει,η θάλασσα αγριεύει και εσύ στέκεσαι στα βράχια με τα ακουστικά στα αυτιά,δεν σε νοιάζει αν έχει ήλιο η όχι,προτιμάς ένα αγριο σκηνικό όταν ακούς αυτον τον δίσκο ουτως η άλλως,λατρεύεις τον χειμώνα,λατρεύεις και κατα κάποιο τρόπο την μοναξιά,δεν θές να τελειώσει αυτό το ταξίδι αλλα πρέπει.
Μόλις τελείωσε όπως άρχισε,με τον ήχο από ένα στοιχειωμένο πλήκτρο.
Στην τελική αυτό είναι ο δίσκος,μιλάει για εναν χωρισμό,για μια οδύνη προς την λύτρωση και για την μοναξιά.
Σου γαμάει τα σωθικά αυτός ο δίσκος και για αυτό τον λάτρεψα,επίσης για την παραγωγή του και την σκοτεινή του ψυχεδελική ατμόσφαιρα,έιναι ο δίσκος της χρονιάς και χαίρομαι που μοιράστηκα τα συναισθηματά μου για αυτόν.
Τελειότητα ρε πούστη μου.

Εκεί που ξυπνάς ένα πρωί και είναι ήδη γαμημένη η μέρα σου,(το καταλαβαίνεις απο τα σφιξίματα στο στομάχι και από τα επαναλαμβανόμενα όνειρα του να βλέπεις την πρώην σου γκόμενα),ξαφνικά λες,αw τσεκάρω αυτή την μπάντα που κάποτε μου είχε πάρει το μυαλό.
Ναι για τους Gliss μιλάω,αυτή την μπάντα πού είχε βγάλει ένα άλμπουμ που ήταν στα top 10 records γιά να γαμάς μεθυσμένος.
Το λοιπόν να γαμήσω και το hype και κάθε μαλάκα που γράφει για μουσική(συμπεριλαμβανομένου και μένα),να γαμήσω κάθε φορά που αισθάνθηκα μόνος επειδή έμπλεξα σε μία σχέση που ο εγωισμός μετατρεπόταν σε δάκρυα,να γαμήσω κάθε φορά που έκλαιγα για μιά πουτάνα καρδιά.
Ολα τα παραπάνω τα έπαθα όταν άκουσα το Out the Door,ένα από τα καινούρια τραγούδια των Gliss.
Eυχαριστώ όλες τις μπάντες που μου γάμησαν την ψυχή όταν βγάζαν τέτοια τραγούδια,το βραβείο του σου γαμαώ την ψυχή για τον μήνα οκτώβρη πάει σε αυτούς.
Είναι πολύ όμορφο συναίσθημα να θυμάσαι τα σκατά που πνιγόσουν και πνίγεσαι εννίοτε,γιατί έτσι καταλαβαίνεις και όλες τις μαλακίες που έχεις κάνει,νιώθεις οτί τα σκατά παίρνουνε ένα χρώμα ροζουλί και μετατρέπονται σε ζελεδάκια,ναι τόσο γλυκά καταλήγουν μερικά πράματα στο τέλος.
Θέλω να αφιερώσω αυτό το κείμενο στον Raggedy Man γιατί ξέρω πως κατά βάθος είναι ευαίσθητος τύπος και πώς έχει καια τα αρχίδια να το παραδεχτεί.
Γιά όλους εμάς λοιπόν που αγαπήσαμε παράφορα ένα κορίτσι βούρ στο καινούριο τραγούδι των Gliss.
Για να γαμηθεί η ψυχή όπως πρέπει και μετά να αγαλιάσει,να ηρεμήσει υπό την θέα των βυζιών της όποιας γκόμενας πηδάμε τώρα,όχι το να πάς με άλλη δεν είναι η λύση,αλλά το rock n roll δεν αλλάζει έτσι εύκολα.

Σε αυτή την μικρή πόλη που ζούμε με τίς πολλές μπάντες αναμεσά μας και τον βρώμικο αέρα,ξεπροβάλλαν και οι Liarbirds αρκετά χρόνια πρίν.Παίζουνε αγγλική ποπ,αυτή την μουσική που σου φέρει στο μυαλό έρωτες σαν γλυφιτζούρι,μπαλόνια,σέξυ κοριτσάκια και μελωδίες που κάνουν την καρδιά σου να χορεύει.Ο ψηλός γράφει τα τραγούδια,δεν του τό χεις οτι έχει αυτή την νοσταλγική φωνούλα,θυμάμαι μια φορά τζαμάραμε doors μαζί και χαμογέλαγε σαν μικρό παιδί,όταν ένας μουσικός παίζει και χαμογελάει να ξέρεις οτι η μουσική είναι η ζωή του,τα πάντα,η αρχή και το τέλος.Μετά από πολύ ψάξιμο από την ίδια την μπάντα και ένα άλμπουμ πού ήταν έτοιμο εδώ και 2 χρόνια,επιτέλους το κυκλοφορούν και το παρουσιάζουν live στο Six Dogs την πέμπτη 14/10 με αντίτιμο 10 ευρώ και τό άλμπουμ κατά χείρας.Τούς γουστάρω γιατί διάφερουν απο τίς υπόλοιπες γλυκανάλατες μπάντες και καλλιτέχνες που έχουμε,γιατι;(Γιατί έχουνε ψυχή και φαίνεται).Μπράβο ψηλέ.

The Soundcarriers Interview

Here on this blog except for bringing you great music and all we also do interviews sometimes.

2 days ago i did an interview with Paul Isherwood the bassist of The Soundcarriers.

It was more a chat with two mates rather than interview, but we had a lot of fun.

First of all The Soundcarriers are what their name exactly says,they carry sounds and they write their songs with analog equipment,it can't get better right?

That's in general what we said that afternoon:

We discussed about three things mostly,Psychedelic Pop,heavy bass sounds and the Analog way of recording stuff.

Me: So Paul tell me who are The Soundcarriers how do you write the songs in the band?

Paul:

The Soundcarriers are Dorian,Leonard,me and Adam.

Dorian sings and plays the organ,leonard is also singing and plays guitar.

Adam and I write the songs, usually we make a rough demo or jam out a groove, if it works we take it to the studio, play it with Dorian and Leonore and then it takes on another feel. It never ends up sounding how you imagine it to sound but I think thats a great thing about the process, even if it doesnt work out you learn something or you might use one section and take that into another track. I think the fact the songwriting is done by the rhythm section gives us a different sound too, we approach the song from a different angle and bring the groove element into the track.
Me:Your records were both recorded with analog equipment.
Why did you choose to record that way and what are the limits when you record that way?
Paul:
I guess the reason we chose to record onto tape was because most if not all of the music we listen to and like was recorded that way. Its not about being retro or whatever and I've nothing against digital recording but I love the way tape reacts to different instruments, the extra harmonics etc particularly on the bass and drums. There are obvious limitations with recording like this but limitations can make you more creative. Tape has more depth - no question.
Me:People put you in the Psychedelic Pop and acid jazz genre in music.
Is it very hard for a band to have success when it chooses to play that kind of music?
Paul:
Its always very difficult when you're a band with an unconventional sound or you're trying to do something outside the box because people/media are always trying to pin a label on it or are looking for something mainstream they can compare it to, its just lazy journalism. Unfortunatley a lot of the radio stations here in the UK play the same kind of music, its like' indie by numbers' and sadly there doesn't seem to be any DJ's digging deeper...RIP John Peel.
Me:
Do you ever wish to had a timemachine?
And if you had in what year you would choose to go?
Paul:
I'd probably head back to around 1964, I think it would be a real interesting time musically and technically, It would have been great to be involved in some experimental music around this time, things were just starting to get interesting especially form a production point of view.
Me:Name me some influences that made you get involved with music
Paul:
john barry,lost soundtracks, (I marc 4 )- italian library,experimental jazz,spiritual jazz,pentangle, dave graham - folk blues and beyond.
Well we did only 5 questions and answers thing because the other one and a half hour we were speaking literally about everything.
First of all i want to tell you that Paul is such a great guy,he spoke to me right away as a friend of his and not as a music journalist or anything,he told me that he's not into very much with computers and modern technology stuff,but he handled it just right.
Here's some things we said:
Me: Paul the music industry in England these days is such a shame right?
Paul:
Yeah i guess some people carry shit in their ears,it's so dramatic that people don't get involved with real music anymore,they prefer the easy way these days.
Me:Tell me about the Coral Paul do you like them?,they play this kind of mixed up 60's psychedelic and pop music,are you into them?
Paul:
Yeah let me tell you man,The Coral are very lovely in what they do,even though they are not my thing so much,i love though that they sound like the Byrds,our own Byrds made in England.
Me: Paul tell me about the crisis there in england,here in greece as you know we have a major problem,many many people don't have jobs.
Paul:
Yeah i know these are very hard times we are living for,me personally i used to work at a record shop but it closed after many many years,don't think mate that here is more easy,it's the same but it's not so hard to get along like Greece,this generation must do something.
While i was chatting with Paul i had as background some fine Psychedelic Pop and rare funk grooves and paul was always,man what;s that sound,you inspire me to write down the answers you gave me,he really loved the sounds,we also discussed about My Drunken Haze,i told him about my band and he was like,wow that's very good sound man,you should come here and record to our studio.He also told me that he will help me as much as he can.
Later Hunter lea from Mono in Vcf came up in the conversation,he told me that he loved their album back in 2008 and hunter was about to come and record his first solo album at the studio that Soundcarriers recorded their albums.
So later on and after 2 hours,a toasted sandwich that i made,some japan psychedelic stuff that i put to Paul to hear and he got amazed by my knowledge in music, we said our goodbyes and promised to each other to stay in contact,because we found out that we have the common love for the music.
Let me tell you that Soundcarriers are recording their third album at the moment.

Παλιομαλάκα,τιποτένιε,πούστη άντρα,σπέρμα ρινόκερου(αυτό από τον φίλο Nervous Poe).

Πώς σου ξέφυγε αυτή η μπάντα,ξεκωλιάστηκες να ακούς Still Corners και έχασες όλα τα υπόλοιπα,ασυχγώρητος.

Όλα τα παραπάνω τα έιπα στον εαυτό μου όταν άκουσα τους Cats Eyes το καινούριο πόνημα του frontman των Horrors(Ναι αυτή η μπάντα που ξεκίνησε παίζοντας Ghost garage rock n roll,μετά το γυρίσαν σε Joy Division σκοτεινοί πρίγκηπες και αργότερα σε New Wave αλητήριους).

Όπως και να χει εδώ τσίμπησε το γκομένακι ο τυπάκος,μετά απο πολύ αλκοόλ και γαμήσια θα γράψανε μαζί τον δίσκο(κάπως έτσι γίνονται αυτά) και βγάλανε ένα πανέμορφο Bubblegum,Psychedelic Pop LP.

H ποπ στα καλυτερά της αν θέλετε την γνώμη μου.

Δεν υπάρχει σωστός και λάθος τρόπος όταν ερωτέυεσαι ένα τραγούδι.

Σαν τις γκόμενες κάτι,αν σου αρέσει θα πάς μαζί της για να τη θυμάσαι,η για να σε θυμάται.

Εδώ τους Pink Playground που κυκλοφόρησαν το καινούριο τους LP και αυτό το πανέμορφο ονειρικό Dark Bloom θα τους θυμάμαι γιατί με κάναν να ανάψω τσιγάρο στις 3 το βράδυ,κάτι που έχω να το κάνω εδώ και 2 χρόνια.

Μια φορα και ενα καιρο αποφασισα να μοιραστω την μουσικη που ακουγα με τον κοσμο.

Καπου εκει στο χαος του ιντερνετ ανακαλυψα τον Poplie εναν ιντερνετικο σταθμο που στο μελλον θα μου αλλαζε την ζωη.

Ητανε μια περιοδος στα 26 μου που ημουν ηδη ανεργος ενα χρονο,επαιζα dj απο δω κ απο κει και δεν ειχα ολοκληρωσει ουτε ενα τραγουδι δικο μου,περα απο καποιεσ σκορπιες ηχογραφησεις των parachutes in the sun ενα project που ημουνα εγω και η κιθαρα μου.

Δεν το ειχα ποτε με την μουσικη ειναι η αληθεια,να γραφω δικα μου τραγουδια και να σημαινουν κατι.

Ολα αρχιζουνε και τελειωνουνε με εναν ερωτα.

Ενας απο αυτους ητανε και οι My Drunken Haze.

Δεν ειχε ξανατραγουδησει και δεν ειχε ξανακουσει τετοια μουσικη,οταν το ελεγα κανεις δεν με πιστευε.

Ειναι μια μεγαλη αληθεια πως οι ανθρωποι που εχουνε τετοιο ταλεντο δεν τους νοιαζει ποτε για τοτι κανουνε οι αλλοι,τι μουσικη παιζουνε,τι στυλ εχουνε αντιγραψει,κανεις δνε μπορει να μιλησει για την ψυχη στην μουσικη με ακριβεια.

Ητανε μια απο αυτες τις περιπτωσεις ολα μου βγαινανε τοσο φυσικα,οι μελωδιες οι στιχοι και τα παντα.

Κανεις δεν θα σου πει ποιος ειναι ο σωστοσ τροπος για να γραψεις ενα τραγουδι,κανεις δεν ξερει την σωστη συνταγη για να γινεις πετυχημενος,ολα ειναι θεμα του πως θα κοντρολαρεις τα συναισθηματα σου,πως θα μιλησεις για αυτα,πως θα αφηγηθεις εναν καλοκαιρινο ερωτα,εναν χειμωνιατικο χωρισμο,ολα σε αυτη την μουσικη ητανε παντα θεμα ακραιων συναισθηματων και στιγμιαιας εμπνευσης.

Ητανε η πρωτη φορα στην ζωη μου που ειχα βρει τον τροπο να το κανω,και εκεινη ειχε βρει τον τροπο να εκφρασει το πως ενιωθε.

Σε ενα παραλληλο συμπαν θα ειχε το happy ending που του αρμοζε,απλα η ζωη δεν ειναι μια ταινια ομως αν και ειναι ωραιο να ζεις την ζωη σου ρομαντικα.

Καπου εκει σκασαμε εμεις μυτη,μαζι με το paper planes ενα τραγουδι που γραφτηκε το κουπλε το καλοκαιρι και το ρεφραιν τον χειμωνα μια νυχτα που εβρεχε.

Η αληθεια ειναι πως δεν ειμασταν επαγγελματιες δεν κυνηγαγαμε συμβολαια και δισκογραφικες,θελαμε απλα να παιζουμε μουσικη,την δικια μας μουσικη.

Κατα ενα μεγαλο ποσοστο το καταφεραμε αν και ειμασταν πολυ αφελεις για να το παρουμε στα σοβαρα,κατι γινοτανε εκεινη την περιοδο και δεν ξεραμε τι.

Ισως και να μην μαθουμε ποτε after all.

Εδω ειναι ενα κομματι που γραφτηκε εκεινη την περιοδο και για δικους μας λογους αποφασισαμε να μην το μοιραστουμε με κανεναν,οπως και τον λογο που σταματησαμε να συνυπαρχουμε και να φτιαχνουμε τραγουδια μαζι.

Δεν ειναι ευκολο να γινει αυτο και στην δικια μας περιπτωση ητανε αυτη η περιπτωση του μια στο εκατομμυριο,η απολυτη μουσικη χημεια.

Δεν συμβαινει συχνα και εδω θα ηθελα να πω κατι μεσα απο την καρδια μου σε ολους εκει εξω.

Μην αναζητατε τις επιρροες σας και μην ψαχνετε κατι που ηδη εχει γινει,καντε κατι δικο σας και ασ θυμιζει χιλια πραματα,σημασια εχει να ξερετε οτι το φτιαξατε εσεις με την καρδια σας και την ψυχη σας και πιστεψτε με οταν γινεται αυτο τοτε θα το καταλαβουνε ολοι,δεν εχουνε καμια σημασια τα μεγαλα στουντιο και το προμοσιον,μεγαλη σημασια εχουνε τα αληθινα τραγουδια αυτα που ειχανε παντα να πουνε κατι.

Ξερω οτι θα με μισησει για αυτο που θα κανω αλλα το πιο σωστο ειναι να το μοιραστω με τον κοσμο γιατι οσο μας αγαπησε το εκανε με την καρδια του και τους ευχαριστω.

Υπαρχουμε μεχρι σημερα και δεν διαλυθηκαμε γιατι εδωσα μια μεγαλη υποσχεση στον εαυτο μου οτι δεν θα τα παρατησω και ετσι εγινε.

Συντομα αν πανε ολα καλα θα μπουμε στο studio και θα ηχογραφησουμε αυτα τα τραγουδια οπως εμεις ακιβως τα αισθανομαστε με την Daphne και την μπαντα.

Εδω το Take me There μια μερα πριν αποχωρησει η Σοφια απο την μπαντα.

Αφηστε με να σας πω 2 λογια,αντε 3.

Υπαρχουνε στιγμες στην ζωη ενος αντρα που καμια φορα ο πονος δεν τον πιανει,μουδιαζει ρε παιδι μου και η μουσικη ειναι παντα εκει και του κανει παρεα και με ενα ποτηρι κοκκινο κρασι ακομα καλυτερα.

Μετα απο μια βδομαδα και ενα μπουκαλι κοκκινο κρασι εκατσα και εφτιαξα αυτο το συναισθηματικο mixtape.

Alright i am amazed from Hunter Lea..like throwing angel dust in the air in the middle of the night.
If they asked me what his music sounds like this would be my answer.
He began playing drums as a little kid learning from his father,then a neighbour moved in playing drums
and hunter moved on playing guitar,then he had his first band called circa,after some years he and a friend from college jordan luckman created the Mono in Vcf,on that period as few many few people know hunter diagnosed with cancer and started chemotherapy and when the treatment finally was over and hunter finally was out of it he said to the others fuck it let's go and make the best record ever,so they got in to the best studio,they had top string players on the record and they released one of the best psychedelic pop records of the last decade.
Mono in Vcf were characterised as one of the best obscure bands in the city of tacoma,one of the best bands and live act around.
But the future had other plans for them,they released the record on their own,record companies never signed them with the excuse we just can't help you,while the most record companies release stuff that just is under the average while anybody who heard mono in vcf album said this is fucking greatness,amazing stuff and it's still a mystery why mono in vcf never got too far having such a gem in their shoulders..
From 2010 nobody knows the future of the band..
2011 and Hunter lea starts to put his own material on soundcloud trying to leave off the past and keep creating big and glorious psychedelic pop music..
And this is the truth,his songs have soul in them,they have heart and kaleidoscopic sounds,they are made of gold,the sound is so crystal and everything is magical.
Personally i really hope mono in vcf or hunter himself find his way out and find a record deal for being keep creative because as he said last night Psychedelic Pop doesn't pay the bills.

Made of Soul-An after Midnight interview with David Mc Donnell from the Sand Band

3 nights ago i had a chat with David Mc Donnell from the Sand Band on the facebook,i asked him if he would let me do an interview to him,he agreed right in,this is what we said....
1.David i see your fame as a band growing in the internet and many new fans coming in,where did they hear from you,how did they found you?
David:i guess people just join us when they discover us and like us...i think we have had a few blogs(yours included) who were onto us early on,i guess that's how it is these days..people find us in the end i hope and Myspace seem to be a first port of call for many
people so they then find you on here.
2.What about the rumors about noel gallagher and the sand band?
David:I don't know anything about it mate...but i can tell you that.
Noel is genius and doesn't need anyone to help him.
So some of the press cutting have been insane..
He called me up and came to a gig..That's where it's at..At the end of the day he is one of my heroes and i love all that he has done..he is as relevant now as he was when he started..not many people can carry that through..If i'm involved or not.That won't change.
I'm just as excited as anyone else to hear what he does next..
3.As a little kid what were your dreams?,did you ever imagine yourself in a band?..i know that liverpool has a great tradition in bringing out melodic and sometimes one of the greatest bands around.
David:As a kid i didn't speak much .. And i stayed in a lot ha ha ha. I guess i was hermit from day one. I used to just listen to my mums records . Free , Bob Marley .and of course The Beatles .. Then i got in into my own bands like U2 , Pink Floyd .. I liked big songs to escape into .. For dreamers ha ha. I couldn't play at this point. I didn't start playing properly till i was 18 i guess. I think somehow Paul Kossof's Guitar playing from free has influenced me .. he has a freedom that makes think you have heard it before ... he can stick a hook in the right place .. and go of into a lead in the right place .. and most of all he is delicate .. he knows when to let it move around him . Thats what i try to do. Im not a flashy player.. non of the band are .. We are a gang .. brothers .. trying get to same place musically .. We usually know when when we're there. Sometimes it's harder to find than others .. but thats the nature of anything creative . The addiction .. to get back there. If it's not from that place we just let it be.
4.The album is out now...how long did you waited for this,what's the feeling of putting out your first album?
David:I have waited 2 years since i made the demos .. I recorded them and gave them to friends and people really liked them .. More than i thought they would .. There are 2 unsung heroes here .. james from The Coral And Alan From Deltasonic . They both convinced em to release this collection of songs .. Even though i had gone into a studio a year later with Scott ( steel) and Jay ( Drummer ) and recorded a completely different album called When We Kiss ( which will come out september 2011.. So i am glad we listened to them.. It feels right . Its a good Start. This first album was about trying to say 1 thing to one person. i hope She hears it. The next one is about hope and looking forward .. Not in the sense of forgetting about someone .. just dealing with where we arrive sometimes without ever heading in that direction,I have stayed Single because i love that person .. But i don't think that is enough.. So i was left in a space i didnt remember heading towards.. from Within that space I wrote another album .. On the other side of heartbreak .. Kind of full of hope..
Love is an amazing thing .. it can deliver things way after it's gone out of sight .. but that's just ity .. only out of sight .. Not out of your heart. it's everlasting if it's real.
5.What are your dreams about the band david and in music particular,what are your targets,your thoughts?
David:My dreams are happening .. Well some of them .. Being in a band .. Making music .. But some are still dreams .. The best way .. A balance .. If you get everything what do you aim for ... I dunno .. There are some things i would like to happen .. but i am grateful for what is happening ,I just want to leave behind music that means something to people down the line.. music they can make their own .. And for it to do that that it has to be real .. to make people feel less alone is a tall order but that would be my personal hope for our music.
6.What does it take to write down a song,what is the process of you writing a song,do you feel like emptying your heart everytime you write them down one by one?
David:i can only speak for me here .. An idea .. There is a book called Ideas have legs .. It's true .. They can be a line or couple of words in morning and be nearing a story by the end of the day .. They spin round my head .. kind of all consuming .. They demand your attention ha ha,And some just arrived un anounced & fully foremd .. Like Secret Chord Or burn This House.
And truth .. No tricks,There .. Theres my bag of tricks ha ha ha.
7.Do you believe in people's souls in those who associated in music business and call themselves as artists,because personally i believe that if your heart and your soul are not true then and your music will never be,what about soul and balls,do you need them to stay real and true to yourself first?
David:i only know what i think is real
The music " Business " Doesn't interest me too much ..
There are good people out there
LIke Deltasonic , Co Op , Bella Union , Domino etc
But i don't interact too much with that side of things enough to be able to comment,Im all about the music.
8.I believe your music has a sense of your own heart and your thoughts and dreams,it's very personal and very emotional,if you would see someone cry or smile in your concert will you say to yourself(i kind of made it)?
David:Erm . Thats a strange question , but i now where your coming from .. If someone wants to cry .. They are feeling something .. And thats living.. If our music makes people feel something or allows them to go to a place inside that they already know .... Then thats a good thing.
People keep too much inside.
My stuff seems to pour out . Probably a bad thing if your my partner .. But for song writing purposes its an ok state to exist in.
The things i need or am trying to say are usually just under the surface,My worst or best quality,I don't know which.

I am just writing songs that i like and hope people will like .. They can take them and do what they want to them .. Or with them.
When your finished with any piece of art and you allow it to be seen or heard by others. It really isn't yours any more is it.
You got what you needed out of of it in it's conception / Creation.
Music breaks and heals different people at the same gig .. That's the beauty of it .. it's interactive and ever changing for the listener.
It's everything to me and others .. if you give it your all . it gives back.
Im lost in Music ha ha ha...
9.What do you wish for people to change in themselves?
David:Nothing. I can only change myself. People do what they want .. Thats a free world.

Well i am thrilled now for what i am about to say..
Beady eye is the new band of liam gallagher from oasis and they're putting out a record on february 28th.
To tell you the truth i am one of the biggest oasis fans in greece and i never regret it,they were fucking awesome.
Now for the beady eye..
Liam without his brother noel is like a car without wheels,but and i say but,the beady eye have put out 2 songs,bring the light and four letter word...alright nothing much,nothing special..
Today i found the first single of their album,it's called the roller and believe me it's fucking awesome,i am so happy that liam with his new band can write songs like these..mad fer it,still..

Ok.
Όταν έχω να κάνω με μπάντες που παίζουνε αυτό το ωραίο πράμα που κάποιοι το λένε dream pop kai indie είμαι πολύ αυστηρός.
Στήν περίπτωση των postcards με έπιασε μια γαμημένη μελαγχολία,ξέρεις από εκείνες τίς στιγμές που θές να πάρεις τηλέφωνο την πρώην σου και να της πείς πόσο τήν αγάπησες αλλά θα ξεφτιλίσεις τον εγωισμό σου.
Οκ αυτό δεν είναι κακό,το κακό είναι όταν βγαίνουνε αυτοί οι δίσκοι και σού γαμάνε την καρδιά,συνήθως για διάστημα 1 βδομάδας και παίρνεις τον κολλητό σου και τού λές,ρε μαλάκα νομίζω οτι έχω κατάθλιψη,ε βέβαια με τις μουσικές που ακούς θα μου πεί ο βαγγέλης.
Ε δεν με νοιάζει,αυτός ο δίσκος μου γάμησε την καρδιά σαν μικρό παιδί και ηθέλα για μία στιγμή να ξεφτιλίσω τον εγωισμό μου,αλλά όχι ρε μαλάκα δεν τής κάνω την χάρη.
Συνεχίζω και ακούω τον δίσκο των postcards για δεύτερη μέρα σερί και ξέρω πως επειδή ακριβώς με έκανε να πονέσω και να νιώθω την αγάπη της ακόμα,ε είναι κατι αξεπέραστο για μένα.
Οχι δεν την έχω πάρει ακόμα τηλέφωνο.
Άκουστε αυτό τον δίσκο αξίζει καμιά φορά να βάλεις κ τα κλάματα γιά χάρη του.

Εδώ η δισκάρα αυτη!

Ladies and gents i present you the keys,not much to tell,not much to listen,not much to be,just making music.

Well what do we have here?..the keys and they're not black,a new band from england(where else?),their music is something like the coral and all the neopsychedelic pop bands.
They're not so great like the coral or anyone else but they have fun to listen to,they have the proper tunes for a sunday afternoon and this is as much as they can go i believe,well take a listen to them,you won't lose anything.

Ok some people have for passion gambling,music,movies,watching the cars,usually it goes like this,women and money always ruled everything.

For me personally it was always music and women,i wouldn't exist without them,i wrote songs for them,i fell in love with them but i only loved two of them.

Let me tell you something about it,falling in love is a wonderful thing even though you know you'll end up crashing in the wall,you'll end up crying for all that you never said to her,for all that younever gave to her.

I am close to 27 years old in age and i know for sure one thing,i'm obsessed by women,it's my passion,my first thought in the morning,i enjoy waking up with a naked woman beside me,the most of the times i don't know why,i just want to,it makes me go on living,i enjoy breaking up my heart,i enjoy to hug the girls,i enjoy being in a room with some good music and smiley girls,i enjoy make love to them but i don't enjoy it when i'm falling in love with them,for the year 2010 i would say that it was a good year for my sex life but it wasn't for my heart cause deep inside me i know that i always wanted the one that we will never be together,well you can't have it all.

Σβήστε τα φώτα να ανάψω μερικά κεριά...
Ο δίσκος που απέδειξε οτί το rock n roll υπάρχει ακόμα.
Ο πιό ρετρό δίσκος τής χρονιάς,οι πιο σέξυ μπασογραμμές around,οι ομορφότερες κιθάρες και το φάντασμα του jim morrison σε όλο τον δίσκο.
Ο δίσκος που είναι από μόνος του η έννοια ψυχή και αρχίδια.
Οτί καλύτερο άκουσα και θα ακούω για καιρό ακόμα.

Είναι ίσως η μοναδική φορά που γράφω γιά τους GYBE γιατί είναι από τις μπάντες που κρατάς για την πάρτυ σου,για όλες αυτές τις στιγμές που απλά θες να δείς τα σκάτα σου στον καθρέφτη της ψυχής σου.Αλλα αυτό είναι ένα άλλο θέμα.
Θέλω απλά να σας πώ για αυτό που βίωσα το σαββάτο στο gagarin.
Η καλύτερη live μπαντά στο είδος της, τής γενιάς μου,οι pink floyd της ποστ ροκ κοινότητας είπα από μέσα μου καθώς παρακολουθούσα με ευλάβεια και με υπερηφάνια τους GYBE,νιώθω πάρα πολύ τυχερός που τούς είδα για δεύτερη φορά μετά απο 8 χρόνια.
Κρεσέντα θορύβου και μελωδιών σκέπασαν τον χώρο,ενα καρναβάλι απο καταραμενές ψυχές και καρδιές πάνω στήν σκηνή,σε ενάν ιδανικό κόσμο το κοινό θα χόρευε και ολοι μεταξύ τους θα κάνανε ενα τεράστιο όργιο υπο την ιεροτελεστική μουσική τους.
Ο ήχος ήτανε πολύ δυνατός και χαοτικός όπως έπρεπε,το βιολί σου γκρέμιζε την ψυχή σε κάθε νότα,τα video από πισώ ήταν και θα είναι οι καθρέφτες της ψυχής του συγκροτήματος,τα πιστεύω τους και το είναι τους.Ενιώσα κάτι μέσα μου να σπάει που τούς ξαναείδα επι σκηνής,δεν ήθελα να σταματήσουνε ποτέ,ήτανε απο τα πιο ωραία live της ζωής μου.Σας ευχαριστώ GYBE και στο επανιδείν σε εναν πιό όμορφο και ιδανικό κοσμο όπως τον φανταζεστέ και εσείς.

Καμιά φορά εύχεσαι να ήτανε όλα διαφορετικά,να μήν σκέφτεσαι όλα αυτά πού σε πληγώσανε αλλά πιστεύω ειναί κ ο λόγος που φτιάχνονται αυτοί οι δίσκοι.Για να σου θυμίζουνε οτι γεννήθηκες για να ζήσεις πράματα και οχι για να τα αναλύσεις.Και ολή αυτή η ψυχεδέλεια και τα βάθη του δίσκου είναι τοσο ακαταμαχήτα όμορφα,υπέροχος και σύγκλονιστίκος δίσκος απο τήν αρχή μέχρι το τέλος.Μουσική με ψυχή και αρχίδια και στην περιπτωσή της περισσότερο ψυχή.
